Pensive Musing

E
very story starts with ‘once upon a time...’ but not this one. Do you know why? Because this is not a story but a contemplation of this world buzzing with so many people, the mind of the human, in a way the mankind as a whole. Many of you must have wondered who you really are, not as in what you want to do in your life, but as in who you really are and the reason for your existence. What exactly will happen to you when your mortal body will cease to exist, in simple terms when you pass away?

These are two of the many baffling mysteries that man hasn’t been able to explain using the science that he is so proud of. Biology defines us as a bunch of different kinds of tissues that are bundled up together and work in coordination to help us exist, or rather help the mass of those grey cells present inside our skull to make it think we exist. Yes, it is the brain that scientifically houses our mind, which in turn wonders about all that is there to be wondered about.

After all, what is this Earth? It’s just a negligible tiniest speck of dust in this vast and expanding universe. Well, on the bright side, we are so lucky to have a planet that by the most remarkable chance in the whole universe had acquired all the conditions necessary for life to exist in form of beings. No other planet that, we know of, has life on it or even remotely suitable conditions that can support life as compared to the wonderful Earth.

Homo sapiens, I reckon, is the most remarkable outcome of the Big Bang. After all it is not the Eagle or the Lion that is on the top of the food chain but Man. Being blessed by a far more advanced mind than the rest of the beings he made his way to the top, where he stays today. But as every other thing that has to end sometime or the other, his fall is for certain; and that is to be brought about by Man himself. But this is another debatable topic that is vast in itself.

Mind’s complexity is such an intriguing subject to follow; I am really impressed to see people make a living out of it. It is quite fascinating to decipher the human mind and know how exactly it works. Each mind is unique in itself and has its own special characteristics. It is totally wrong to suppose that every mind works in the same fashion. Each person has their own perspective of viewing the world. An immature mind can have a clear conscience while a mature mind can be without one.

There is Psychology and then there is Philosophy; both of them involve the mind and the way it works. The former studies it from a scientific point of view and is known as the science of mental life whereas the latter involves logical reasoning to prove what seems totally illogical to the layman. You can say that this discourse is somewhat philosophical in nature. Psychology tries to solve the mystery that the mind is. However it can’t always predict someone’s course of action. It simply is a generalisation of numerous observations.

Theory of Relativity is a great gift to the world. After all it fetched it's proposer the Nobel Prize. Even if it doesn't yield anything of value to the common man as of yet, but it informs us that everything is relative to some standard or another. The greatest and popular example is: are we moving around the sun or is it the other way round, or are they both incorrect? Well to the normal human mind everything seems to be as it looks or as is portrayed by the majority. This too is an immeasurable topic open for debate.

It’s time to conclude this speculation and the last words are going to be just this that deep down we are all contrived animals that diligently endeavour to satisfy the basic needs of food, mate and territory, the process of which is veiled in a shroud of intelligence, vanity, profanity and to some extent pursuit of happiness.
